Norbert

Norbert – The co-founder, Activity Leader / Organiser.

He is the one who strives behind the scenes to ensure to the day or the weekend’s mystery goes as well as can be, he even tries to book the weather!!

Social, physical and wellbeing are the main aspect to the activities. A good day is when you are naturally tired, still smiling, felt as though you have exercised and are looking forward to the next adventure.

He will do his best to answer all your questions from how far to how much.

Health & Safety

An activity is mainly a day walk, trail walk, coastal walk, hillwalk or something that may involve physical exercise / involvement.

If you can walk approx 9-12miles and go up and down Tinto at the same time, without straining yourself, you shouldn’t have any problems. The next few walks are easier than the above

Walks are seasonal and can include full day hikes. The winter months, walks can be between 9.30am and 3.30pm, depending on terrain and weather.

Clothing, dress for the day, if STV’s Sean Batty gets excited about the weather, take heed!!!  Bring extra and at times, you can leave a spare bag on the coach. Sorry no trainers, good trail shoes / boots are great for off-road walking activities

Equipment be self-sufficient, a min of a 25l rucksack for the day to carry spare gloves and socks, clothes, waterproofs and food including a flask. A small first aid kit with your own medication is a good idea. Only medicines carried by the leader is ‘paracetamol and aspirin’ sorry.

Weather – if Sean says “West is very Wet’ for Sunday and ‘East is best’ then we will change the destination for the better weather as it is free to get wet in Scotland on any other day!!

Lastly, Norbert will send you a health questionnaire to complete, when completed, it goes in a sealed envelope with your name only on the front of it. Stays in your rucksack.

General health concerns let Norbert know, for example an inhaler is kept in your rucksack, but you shouldn’t need it but if needed, we can only but assist you.

If you are in doubt about anything, speak to Norbert as he will be honest as he does his best to risk assess the activity and the day as much as he reasonably can.
